- While the process of adopting from
China is structured and predictable, it is also highly
bureaucratic. There are numerous documents to collect,
notarize and authenticate. FRC offers a full
dossier service, saving you enormous amounts
of time and aggravation. Just think – no standing
in line at the Chinese Consulate or the Secretary
of State’s Office for what can sometimes be
hours.
- As soon as your dossier is sent to CCAA in Beijing,
you will become part of an FRC Travel Group.
Groups often start to get together long before they
travel, meeting for dinner once a month to compare
notes, or corresponding by e-mail, sharing the waiting
period, and helping each other plan for the trip.
Many adoptive parents have told us that knowing their
traveling companions in advance made the experience
much richer and less overwhelming.
- FRC offers a number of classes to help you
prepare for your international adoption.
Whether it is the practical aspects of caring for
a baby (diapering and bathing) or the more complex
issues around being a multicultural family (with a
child of a different race), we offer educational programs
and resources to assist you.
- Once you receive that all-important referral, we
are there every step of the way, offering comprehensive
trip preparation and planning. From flight
arrangements to packing lists, we share our years
of experience to help make your trip as comfortable
and stress-free as possible.
- An FRC staff representative accompanies
every travel group, so there is always someone
available to answer questions, help with childcare,
offer emotional support, and ensure that your paperwork
is in stellar order.
- Once in China, a bi-lingual facilitator
accompanies every group. Both the FRC rep
and the facilitator are extremely knowledgeable about
the adoption process and CCAA / USA requirements,
and will ensure that all the paperwork,
translation and documentation required is
completed accurately.
- Once at home with your child, the most magical part
of the FRC program occurs. Since most of our China
families are from the Chicago area, travel groups
often continue to get together for reunions, special
holidays and, of course, the annual FRC Picnic. These
activities provide an opportunity for your child to
interact with other children adopted at the same time,
from the same province, and frequently from the same
orphanage. This sense of connection is invaluable for you and your child.
