Birthmother Support and Understanding

Emotional Support
We know how hard it is for birth mothers facing all the feelings, worries and decisions that come with an unplanned pregnancy. At Family Resource Center we start by listening to the concerns of birth mothers and birth fathers. Our birth parent counselors ensure that birthparents understand their rights. We talk with them about their own specific situation, and make sure that they are aware of all the options that are available to them.

Sometimes our adoption counselors are aware of possibilities that birth parents may not have considered. Our compassionate and experienced counselors have helped hundreds of birth mothers and birth fathers explore their options for unplanned pregancies so that they can make the best decision for themselves and their child.

Family Resource Center supports birth parents no matter what decision they reach. We take a non-judgemental and respectful approach. Clearly it is up to birth parents to decide what is best for their child and Family Resource Center appreciates the difficult choices they make and support them in every way possible.

Our birth parent counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer your adoption questions, to help with urgent situations, or just to provide a helping hand when you feel lost or alone.

Practical Support
We can also help with practical things, such as:

  • Supplying safe, clean, temporary housing for you (and your family) if you have nowhere to stay.
  • Providing birth parents with living expenses for groceries, maternity clothes or rent if you need financial assistance.
  • Ensuring that birth mothers receive the medical care they need in order to stay healthy and well.
  • Covering all the legal expenses of adoption.
  • Figuring out what government assistance is available so that money isn’t a constant worry.
  • Creating a strategy for how to tell family and friends that about an unplanned pregancy and about possible adoption plans.

Plus, we’re there when you need someone to talk to who really understands…

Whether you choose to parent your child or make an adoption plan for your child, Family Resource Center is here to help. Call us at (773) 334-2300 or at (800) 676-2229 and talk with someone who appreciates the decisions you face and knows how to help.
