Meet Nicholas & Sandra

Birthparent Letter

Dear Birthmother,

We are very grateful to you for taking the time to read our letter and for considering us as a possible family for your child. It is with great respect and admiration that we present ourselves to you. We understand that this is a difficult and courageous decision that is being made with extreme love for your baby. Hopefully by reading our album you will get a good idea of who we are and how much family means to us.

We met during our junior year in college and were immediately attracted to one another because of shared interests in being with friends, eating good food, and traveling. We have been married for 16 years and are very proud of our two wonderful children Talia (9) and Julian (7) who share the bond of adoption. Our family is also rather unique because Nick and his younger brother were also adopted into a very loving home. Nick will always respect his birth mother's unselfish act of love and genuine concern for his well being. Sandra also comes from a very close knit family. We each have one sibling and a total of 5 nieces and nephews. Holidays are amazing in our family because we are always surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of love.

At our wedding, I described Sandra as possessing an insatiable zest for life, which has not changed over 16 years. She is courageous, smart, and extremely devoted to family. She always has time to help or listen to others. She is quick witted and loves to make people laugh. Her honesty, thoughtfulness, and compassion for others ease forming new friendships. Sandra is a stay at home mom and loves every second of it. She enjoys volunteering in the grade school library and our children's homerooms.  At home, Sandra loves to cook and is always planning menus for our family or friends that we invite over regularly.

What I love most about Nick is that he is very tolerant of others. He is never quick to judge someone based on first appearance. His honesty and thoughtfulness for others serves him well in his career as a Neuropsychologist and provides a solid foundation for creating and maintaining friendships. He is very thoughtful and caring of everyone close to him and is an adoring dad to our children. For the past few years Nick has been running road races.  Our whole family travels with him for support.  We watch him on the route and at the finish cheering him on with home made signs. Growing up he played soccer and is enjoying watching Julian play, too.  Nick also loves to cook and often helps me in the kitchen. His specialty is pancakes that he makes for us on Saturday mornings. Sometimes we even ask him to make them for dinner!

Talia loves playing the  piano and is an aspiring ballerina.  Julian is a master Lego builder, loves playing the violin and is a budding soccer player. Both our children are energetic, creative, funny, sensitive and very loving. They can't wait to have another sibling to join in their fun. We have a large, inviting home with four bedrooms, a big backyard and swing set that our children and their friends use almost daily (even in the winter). There are nice parks and recreational activities within our neighborhood as well as top rated schools. As a family we love to play outdoors, ride bikes, read stories, visit family, and go to the zoo, museums, and amusement parks. Most of all we love to travel and have been lucky to go on many domestic and international vacations. All of this we hope will provide our children with a love of learning and exposure to different cultures that we enjoyed growing up.

Nick and I eagerly await the privilege of welcoming your child into our hearts. We distinctly recall the joy in Talia's face, and tears of happiness in our eyes, when she saw Julian for the first time. We know we'll see that expression again and look forward to Julian's first reaction to his new sibling with great anticipation. Thank you for considering our family to raise and love your child.

Respectfully,

Sandra and Nick
