We met in the English language class shortly after our arrival. Our teacher, Ken, decided we would have something in common and he placed us in the same classroom. Ken was right, soon we became close friends and our bond grew from there. Ken was the best man at our wedding in 2004.

We started from scratch, rebuilding our lives, and Chicago has been our home ever since. Sanja graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001 and now works as a part of a cancer research team at University of Chicago. Davorin has been in Audio Video installation field since 1998 and started his own successful installation business in 2007. We consider ourselves fortunate to be where we are today. Throughout the years we were faced with obstacles where only the person across the table could give comfort and assurance that it will be OK tomorrow. The backbone of our relationship is reliance, trust and understanding . Others say we are meant for each other. We still embrace every day by itself and remind one another in small ways of our devotion.

Adoption is something we always planned on pursuing. We both remember a conversation we had, not even a year into our relationship, about a need to give a child a home when circumstances would have it otherwise. Our circle of friends, whom we consider a family, are all glad and encourage us in our plans to adopt. Some of them have already adopted.

We would like very much to make a child happy through support and love. By recognizing and nourishing his/her strengths and providing a positive environment we would help our child to live a happy and fulfilling life. We can only hope that our life's journey with all it's unexpected turns will lead us to a happy place with a child we can love and raise as our own.
