If you are a birthmother and considering giving up my baby for adoption, we are here to help. We provide information, and help birthmothers examine all their options when they are considering giving up a baby for adoption. Sometimes we can see possibilities that birth parents may not have considered. At FRC birth parents find support - whatever they decide.

We are located on the north side of Chicago, and birthmothers who are thinking of giving up my baby for adoption are always welcome in our office. However, they do not have to come to us in order to receive services. We can meet birthmothers and birth fathers anywhere and any time that is practical and convenient. We can offer counseling and information over the phone, and arrange for additional services when needed.

Our compassionate and experienced adoption counselors can provide practical support like assistance with obtaining medical care, coming up with ideas for meeting living expenses, and temporary housing for those who have nowhere to stay. They can even work with birthmothers to find ways to tell family and friends about their unplanned pregnancy.

Family Resource Center is a small, personal agency and we treat all our clients with respect and dignity. We have even created a Birth Parent Bill of Rights to help women understand what they are entitled to. At FRC birth parents make as many decisions, or as few, as they choose.

• Birth mothers and birth fathers who make an adoption plan for their baby can choose the adoptive family to parent that child.
• Birth parents can decide for themselves exactly what kind of adoption they want - ranging from completely open adoption (where you meet and know the adoptive family), to closed adoption (where all identifying information is kept confidential), or anything in between.
• In cooperation with the adoptive parents they choose, birth parents can decide how much or how little contact - in person, by phone, by photos - they want to have with each other before, during and after the birth and adoption of the child.

No matter what decision a birthmother reaches about adoption, we will respect and support them in every way that we can. Our compassionate, experienced birth parent counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer your questions, help with urgent situations, or just provide a shoulder.

Family Resource Center does not have any religious affiliation and are happy to work with couples and individuals from many different religious denominations and cultural backgrounds. Although birthmothers are always welcome, they do not need to come into our office in order to get help. We will meet with birthmothers any time and place that is practical and convenient.
