Understanding Adoption - Making an Adoption Plan

Emotional Support

We know how hard it is for birth mothers who are facing all the feelings, worries and decisions that come with an unplanned pregnancy. Understanding adoption and how adoption works in Illinois is helpful. Here and at our web site dedicated to adoption services for birth mothers and birth fathers (the Adoption Center of Illinois) it is our intention to provide adoption information and ideas that will help people understand adoption and how it works. At Family Resource Center and the Adoption Center of Illinois we start by listening to the concerns of birth mothers and birth fathers so that they feel supported and empowered. Helping the people we work with in understanding adoption is one of our birth parent counselors top priorities. We want to make sure that birth parents are fully aware of their rights and how adoption works in Illinois. We know that no two adoption situations are alike and therefore we start by learning about each person's specific situation and then sure that they are aware of all the options that are available to them.

Sometimes our adoption counselors are aware of possibilities that birth parents may not have considered. Our compassionate and experienced counselors have helped hundreds of birth mothers and birth fathers explore their options for unplanned pregnancies so that they can make the best decision for themselves and their child.

Family Resource Center and the Adoption Center of Illinois support birth parents no matter what decision they reach. Understanding adoption is a good place to start. We take a non-judgemental and respectful approach. Clearly it is up to birth parents to decide what is best for their child and we appreciate the difficult choices they make and support them in every way possible.

Our birth parent counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer questions, to help with urgent situations, or just to provide a helping hand when someone feels lost or alone.
